2026 Grads, this is for you!

Starion Bank believes in the importance of post-secondary education. To encourage more young adults to pursue this path, Starion awards $1,000 Starion Bank Community All-Star Scholarships to students in each of the Ellendale, Oakes, Bottineau, Rolla, Dunseith and Mohall, North Dakota areas.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Applicant must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  • Applicant must live within a 75-mile radius of Oakes, Ellendale, Dunseith, Bottineau, Rolla, or Mohall, North Dakota.
  • Applicant must plan to attend an accredited U.S. college, university or vocational technical school on a full-time basis.
  • Starion Bank employees and their immediate family members are not eligible.

Scholarships Available

Ellendale: (2) $1,000 Community All-Star Scholarships.

Oakes: (2) $1,000 Community All-Star Scholarships, Awards Banquet.
       (1) $1,000 FFA Scholarship, Awards Banquet TBD

Dunseith, Rolla, Bottineau, Mohall: (1) $1,000 Community All-Star Scholarship per branch/area.

Application Deadline

Applications for all scholarships are due by April 30, 2026.

Winners will be contacted via phone or email. Additionally, we will be announcing and celebrating our application winners on social media.

Scholarship Judging Criteria

A point system based on the following information will be used to score the applications.

  • Leadership and Community Service (40 points)
  • Essay (30 points)
  • Scholastic Achievement (10 points)
  • Financial Responsibility (10 points)
  • One reference letter from a community member (10 points)
Leadership and Community Service (40 points)
  • Honors and recognition – list and briefly describe school, community or organizational awards and recognition received during high school.
  • Extra-curricular activities – list participation in high school activities and the number of years involved in each.
  • Community service/work experience – list involvement in community service projects and work experience.
Essay (30 points)

Answer the following question in 250 words or less: In your opinion, why is it important to be involved in and give back to your community?

Scholastic (10 points)

Include a signed transcript.

Financial Responsibility (10 points)

Briefly outline your plans for paying for college and what you have done to prepare for those expenses.

Letter of Recommendation (10 points)

Please include a letter of recommendation from one member of your community.

In the event of a tie, qualifying applicants will be asked to submit a one-page essay on the importance of continued education. To be considered for a Starion Bank Community All-Star Scholarship, all eligibility requirements of this application must be met.
