We're excited to celebrate Starion Bank Chief Financial Officer Liz Holmstrom for being recognized as a 2026 Executive Excellence: Finance & HR honoree by In Business Madison.
While Liz would probably be the first to redirect attention to her team, this recognition shines a light on her steady leadership, thoughtful approach, and commitment to helping Starion succeed.
Liz joined Starion in 2015 following the acquisition of WPS Bank in Wisconsin. Since then, she has grown alongside the organization, taking on increasing leadership responsibilities before being named Chief Financial Officer in 2025. Today, she oversees financial operations for both Starion Bank and Starion Bancorp and serves as a member of the executive leadership team.
Numbers may be a big part of her job, but those who work with Liz know her impact reaches far beyond spreadsheets and financial reports. She's known for asking good questions, bringing clarity to complex decisions, and helping teams find practical solutions. Her ability to balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day realities has helped support Starion's growth while maintaining our strong foundation.
One of the things people appreciate most about Liz is her collaborative approach. She works across departments, supports colleagues throughout the organization, and helps move ideas into action. When evaluating opportunities, planning for the future, or helping solve a challenge, she brings a calm, thoughtful perspective to the conversation.
Outside of work, Liz is equally dedicated to serving others. She's volunteered with organizations including Habitat for Humanity and United Way Blackhawk Region, served as a board member for Janesville Community Daycare Center, and continues to invest her time through children's programs at her church.
This recognition reflects the leadership, professionalism, and care Liz brings to her work every day, and we're grateful for the role she plays in Starion's continued success.
