Standing up against hunger
September 22, 2017
From North Dakota to Wisconsin, we have been doing our part to put an end to hunger during Hunger Action Month. In Bismarck-Mandan, Starion employees gathered together to feed 467 individuals a meal at Trinity Lutheran Church’s event, The Banquet. It’s an opportunity to provide a meal, conversation and a sense of community for many.

Our team in Wisconsin sponsored and participated in “Go Orange – Fight Hunger” for the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. The organization had 3,052 photos posted and earned more than 76,000 meals!
We’ve also been doing a lot of work with the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way. Along with Starion CEO Craig Larson and his wife, Shelley, being campaign co-chairs for the MSA United Way, we will also be filling and delivering backpacks to 928 students in the Bismarck-Mandan area. The bags provide meals, snacks and drinks for the kids to take home for the weekend when they may otherwise go hungry.
Lastly, Starion’s very own competition, Banking for the Foodbank, launches October 1. Eight Bismarck-Mandan banks will compete with one another trying to collect the most food for the Bismarck Emergency Food Pantry. Watch for more detail on which bank will take home the trophy this year!
One of Starion’s core values is giving back to our communities, and that includes helping friends and neighbors in need. It is so rewarding to be involved with these great organizations and do our part to put an end to hunger!
